Friday, 5/27: The program has 13 girls and 8 internship placements. Our schedules are internships Monday-Thursday, with our seminar Thursday night, and we do excursions on the weekends to different sites throughout Ghana. Today, we got placed in our internships! We had an amazing lunch at the African Woman Foundation office in Ghana. We met with the eight other partner organizations and learned more about the important work they do. After lunch, our director placed Margaux and I into LAWA. LAWA is a group of female attorneys that work on promoting advocacy for women’s rights in Ghana. We traveled 1.5 hours to Labone, Ghana, but it is worth it! We are researching case law and learning more about policies in depth. My topic is Women and Land Law, and by the end of my research I am writing a proposal. I am nervous about the quality of my writing since my boss is an attorney, but hopefully I will do a good job!
